Worship Him

Christ who bade the apostle record “What thou seest, write in a book” also commanded, “and  send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” Revelation 1:11. The names of these churches are symbolic of the church in different periods of the Christian Era.

The number 7 indicates completeness, and is symbolic of the fact that the messages will extend to the end of time, while the symbols used reveal the condition of the church in different periods in the history of the world. It is of great interest that the last church is called Laodicea which means judging the people. So God is once again repeating the same truth that the three angels’ message will be the present truth to those who will be living just prior to the Advent of Christ.

The message of the first angel is concluded by a call to “worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Revelation 14:7. God wants the rest of the world to not only fear Him, give Him glory, and to live in with the judgment in view, but He wants us to worship Him. God, reminds us of His Creatorship. “Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.” “For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.” Psalm 86:8, 10.

As long as man remembers that he is made in the image of God and that all that he sees in heaven above, in the earth beneath and in the water under the earth, was made by God; he will not forget to worship his Creator. But, over the centuries man has lost site of the only mark of God’s authority. The Bible tells us that at the end of the six days of creation, God rested from all His work which He had made. God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because that in it, He rested from all His work which He had made. [Genesis 2:1-3]. So the “Sabbath was made for man” (Mark 2:27) as a sign to help him to identify the Author or Creator of the world.

When God gave the commandments to Moses, He included the Sabbath commandment. Even in the Ten Commandments the Sabbath commandment points to Him as the Creator. “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shall thou labor and do all thy work; But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work… For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11.

Thus, placing a seal upon the law that all should know that the LORD, the Creator of Heaven and earth and sea and all that is in them, is the One who gave the law; while at the same time teaching us that the Sabbath cannot be separated from true worship. It is a strange matter that the majority of the Christian world, living in the judgment time, have forgotten about this, and in the place of the Sabbath of Creation, they have adopted the Papal mark, Sunday, falsely termed the Sabbath and the Lord’s Day. The Lord indeed has a day He has set aside for worship, but it is not Sunday. “The Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.”Mark 2:28.

There is no Bible record that shows of a change or even suggests a change of the Sabbath day. Jesus our example kept the Sabbath, for scripture tells us that “He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.” Luke 4:16. Upon the Mount of Olives, talking about the destruction of Jerusalem, Jesus warned His disciples saying, “But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day,” Matthew 24:20. This shows us that Jesus expected them to be still keeping the Sabbath, 39 years after His death and resurrection. This is indeed true, when we consider the scriptural evidence regarding His disciples and His church through history.

John the Revelator, who was the last one to die among the apostles, wrote the book of Revelation after A.D.  95, says, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day,” Revelation 1:10. He knew no other day called the “Lord’s day”, save the Seventh-day Sabbath. For he again says to us “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Revelation 22:14. His commandments as we have seen earlier, command us to remember none other but the Seventh-day Sabbath and to keep it holy.

The Bible tells us that the angels of God rest not day and night, and cry “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4:8. His angels delight to be in His presence and to do His will. Those also who expect to be heirs with Christ, will possess the same attitude. By worshiping God in spirit and in truth on His blessed Sabbath day of Creation here on earth, they are preparing themselves to worship Him in the earth made new. “For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, saith the LORD” Isaiah 66:22, 23.
